MAIJA MARTIN BARRISTER
Maija Martin practises solely in the area of criminal law at both the trial and appellate levels. Prior to starting her criminal law practice, Ms. Martin completed her articles at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice where she provided research assistance, edited judgments and learned about the inner workings of the judicial system.
Ms. Martin attended Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the bar in 2010. As a law student she was an Editor at the Osgoode Hall Law Journal, Executive Assistant for the Innocence Project and Research Assistant to two criminal law professors. She received the Lenore Caswell Social Justice Bursary and the Goodman’s scholarship for academic excellence.
She is a member of the Criminal Lawyers’ Association and the Movement Defence Committee of the Law Union of Ontario. She regularly facilitates Know Your Rights workshops for community groups and has spoken on panels regarding drug policy, the interaction between criminal and immigration law, and other criminal law issues.
